media ownership

private ownership
This is a company or organisation owned by a one individual or a small group of individuals privately owned companies sell advertising space to make money ‘commercial station’
They are Not owned by the government Shareholders decide on media/ actions
Company or shareholders The directors have to agree on any decisions about what the company does and they make decisions based on what they believe are the best interests of the company. They make money based on advertisements on there channels e.g. sky one sell advertisement spots to other companies.

The public can invest into it and they also sell commercial space to things like local businesses and family companies
Can also get individual contributors
Preston fm sell local commercial advertising space and has public investors.
Local news and events and interests and music
There are other ways they gain revenue

Psb  - public service broadcaster
The BBC is a public service broadcaster in Britain
It is not funded by adverts but instead by the TV license by the general public buying a TV licence they gain funding to enable them due to the funding to buy programmes to broadcast.
They have to remain politically unbiased.
As everyone should have a TV license the BBC has to broadcast programmes to cater for everyone and are not programming for a specific audience unlike commercial broadcaster buy in popular programs to gain the most advertising revenue. If everyone stopped paying there TV license for a year they would go bust. This means they have to put out ‘quality’ programming to, meet the demands of its investors the general public. Public service broadcasters cannot legally be biased.

Multinational ownership
It is a company that is worldwide that every body knows.
e.g. sony – they own sony entertainment, sony pictures, sony music, radia internet  as individual companiesthey also own tristar pictures which is a production company
along with Columbia pictures and universal. They tend to be the producers and not broadcastors
they are funded by creating  media texts e.g. films, tv shows etc and then they sell those off to broadcasters around the world to show on tv

 independents
an independent is not public government or corporate owned
commercial company – asda FM – McDonalds FM
or privately owned  e.g.
independent broadcast media is popular in America.
Content  for all broadcastors has to regulated by organisations like the fcc pegi or Ofcom.
In the uk we don’t get much privately owned media.
Youtube is a  form of independent media.

Conglomerate media ownership is when lots of little companies are grouped together to form one large company e.g. ITV plc. Which owns many different companies e.g. Anglia TV, Granada TV , GMTV, Thames valley, Carlton, etc.
The three biggest conglomerates are the Walt Disney company, time warner, and CBS
Disney ownes many companies including pixar and lucasfilm

logo design

this is the design for my logo i have used the pen tool to form the blue and the gray/white shapes i have chosen to design it like this because it is a simple design that works welli produced them the using the pen tool as this allowed me to easily form the curved edges of the shapes i then used the gradient tool to give them a gradient fill.
The black lines across the middle are still a work in progress as i am going to to make this into a film strip which sort of shows that my company produces films and videos. i created this using the pen tool.

i may later change the colours as i am still not sure about them but i will probably decide to change them later

Assets for the Ambition project

on the first day of production we filmed our main character getting some exam results in the main reception of college. we also filmed him in front of a computer revising for a science exam and actually taking the exam.

on the second day we filmed some exterior shots of the main character running home after collecting the results and some interior shots of the main character.

on the third day we filmed the youngest version of our main character in a home environment playing with a childs chemistry set
we needed a narration spoken by the older version of the main character we did this in the recording booth using garageband.

for one scene of the video we need  sequence that shows a clock moving quickly we captured this asset by recording the clock for 12 hours as a time-lapse taking a still image every 3 minutes.  we did this using a canon 600d slr camera and canons eos utility software controlling the camera and activating the shutter.

campaign advert review

We were asked for our assignment to produce a campaign advertisement for the Lancashire fire and rescue service aimed at young people of the dangers involved in our day to day lives like for example speeding, drink driving, wearing seat belts etc.

To film our production advertisement we used a Canon HD video camera and a tripod. Also we had use of a car as we were making an advert to do with speeding and to film this we used the car to film a sequence of the main character getting run over.
To edit the footage we used Adobe Premiere CS6 as this is a professional video editing software package which is part of the Adobe Creative Suite of applications which is known as a leading set of applications for graphic design and video production. Premiere pro allowed us to use different layers for video and audio so that we can overlay graphics and titles on to the footage.
This equipment excluding the car was equipment owned and supplied for use by college.
The car was supplied by and driven by Mo who is one of the second year media students.
We also had a couple of students from the make up department apply scars and facial wounds to lydia who played the main character who gets injured.

Our intention for our advertisement was to show how the getting ran over by a speeding driver can affect someones life. We chose to do this by showing how a girl is affected in her daily life by receiving scars to her face from getting hit by a speeding driver. we wanted to show how her friends and other people could possibly react to her receiving her injuries when she returned to her daily life.

I think that with my production i followed my groups idea fairly well but i don't think we showed how her life would be affected that well this is because i feel that we didn't plan that part of the production well as we didn't do enough research into how peoples lives are affected by permanent facial injuries. Also we i fell that we didn't get enough shots of before and after he accident that showed a true contrast to her life before and after the accident.

i think that our accident is fairly effective at sending the message across to the audience through the advertising techniques of statistics and a VOG (Voice Of God). These are both common features of campaign adverts and are effective techniques of sending the advertisements intended message across.
At the end of my advertisement i put the think road safety logo, the Lancashire fire and rescue logo and the slogan for my production "watch your speed" into a splash shot at the end of the videos.
